Excerpts from Sister Welker's email.
oh mom you can tell grandma that i do know sister rowberry: i actually know her really well: she has come with me and my companion several times . . .she is way cool: love her to death: we only have six sisters here so we all know each other pretty well: i like all of them they are all great:. . . i love everyone here:. . . we have two new sisters coming one in april and one in may: the one in april is from tahiti and the one in may is from france and she is 57 years old with 9 children: wow huh: i most likely will serve with her some time before i leave that will be fun: in april is probably when i will have my first transfer: they dont do transfers every six weeks here they just do it when they feel it is the right time: . . . i am also really sad when i think about me and sister freeman parting: i love her to death and i dont want to leave: but we both know it has to happen so we are just taking the time we have and working as hard as we can and having fun: oh the other day we had a dinner appointment with a family and i had to do the spirtiual thought: i was really scared but i just had faith and opened my mouth and the words just came out it was amazing! i was so shocked: my companion was so proud of me she said: hey i have been here 6 weeks tomorrow: i cant believe how fast time has flown by: splits went really well: i had fun with sister duby: and i actually spoke french all day long and i understood everything she said to me: she was really patient with me and she talked very simply and found other ways to say things if i didnt understand her: . . . . so how is everyone in the ward: i miss everyone tons: hows everyone in the family: the temperature here has been crazy: it was raining for days and days and then it all of sudden changed to being really hot and humid: it is so crazy how fast it changed: it is so hot right now it is crazy: . . . i have to do the training for district meeting tomorrow: i am really scared: it is on teaching with more enthusiasm: all in french: if it was in english i would feel more confident: but i am just going to have faith that everything will be okay: i ate calamari this week it was actually really good when i didnt know what it was but once i found out i thought i was going to be sick: . . . every person we eat with forces food on us: i think they are just trying to fatten us up: i wont be surprised if i come back 50 pounds heavier: well i love ya tons i hope everything is going well: i miss ya tons and pray for you everyday: love ya!!!!! p.s. the scripture you sent me in 1nephi talking about we are marked permanently on his hands was a scripture i had read the other day and had shared with my companion: it hit me so hard when i read it: it made me really appreciate the lords sacrifice and helped me realize that he is watching out for me and he loves me:
